Dear SDV Community,
No doubt: The momentum behind Eclipse SDV is global.
Over the past months, we’ve seen our community expand not just in size, but in reach and diversity across key automotive regions. This edition of the newsletter reflects that shift: Eclipse SDV is no longer a primarily European initiative. It is rapidly becoming a truly international ecosystem shaping the future of software-defined vehicles.
A particularly exciting development is the continued growth of our Korean ecosystem. With 42dot joining as our first OEM member in Korea and Hyundai Mobis as a new Participant Member, we are deepening our engagement in one of the most dynamic automotive innovation hubs worldwide. At the same time, we’re strengthening our footprint in Japan with Renesas coming on board – an important milestone as we expand collaboration in another critical market. In the United States, the addition of Applied Intuition further reinforces our presence and signals growing industry alignment with our open, collaborative approach. With Traton as a new strategic member since January, we’re even expanding the ecosystem beyond passenger cars and developing the ecosystem towards Software Defined Mobility. Together with FEV.io, they are showing that the European ecosystem is still growing. And as I’m writing these lines, there’s even more membership updates coming in other untapped regions where I hope to be able to talk about in the next newsletter!
This global expansion is not just visible in our member base; it’s also reflected in how and where our community comes together. The Open Community Experience (OCX), co-located with Open Community for Automotive (OCA) in Brussels, was a standout moment this spring. It demonstrated the power of bringing together diverse voices from across regions and domains, all united by a shared vision for open source in automotive.
And we’re just getting started. In the months ahead, Eclipse SDV will continue to meet the community where it is, with upcoming gatherings in India, Japan, Korea, and the United States, beside our Community Days in Europe. These meetups are more than events; they are catalysts for local ecosystems, enabling collaboration, innovation, and growth on a global scale.
As you explore this newsletter, you’ll find many examples of this momentum in action, from new members and project milestones to thought leadership and industry insights. Together, they tell a clear story: Eclipse SDV is scaling internationally, and the opportunities to get involved have never been greater.
Dive in. I think you’ll feel the energy.
