Welcome to the Q3 edition of the Eclipse SDV newsletter! For the first time, it is available in both English and Japanese, reflecting the growing global momentum behind Eclipse SDV and our commitment to connecting communities across regions. We also plan to introduce additional languages in future editions.
This quarter brought steady progress across our technical projects, closer international alignment, and the launch of several important initiatives.
The Automotive Open Source Summit (AOSS) 2026 highlighted two topics that are essential to the future of software-defined vehicles: sustainable business models and cross-regional standardisation. Max Pabinger explored how startups can build viable businesses around open source, while Markus Schupfner presented Eclipse S-CORE as a business enabler. Kazuo Tsubouchi also shared insights into JASPAR’s work on API standardisation, demonstrating the growing alignment between Japanese automotive standards and Eclipse SDV projects.
Within our community, we are launching the Eclipse S-CORE Engagement Program to recognise member organisations that actively contribute to the project. At the same time, the Eclipse SDV Landscape project is making our expanding ecosystem easier to navigate by providing a structured overview of Eclipse SDV projects and their positions within the automotive software stack.
Looking ahead, the Steering Committee is gathering input from Eclipse SDV members to shape the 2027 Program Plan. Participant members: please reach out to your representatives with feedback on the next planning cycle!

New projects: Eclipse SSAM is a newly incubating, high-performance container execution framework purpose-built for the resource-constrained, safety-critical environments of SDVs. Eclipse SDV Hephaestusprovides a modular, open source, qualification-ready development toolchain to reduce integration effort and help automotive projects build software that aligns with ASPICE and ISO 26262 processes.
